OYAM, UGANDA – January 11, 2026 – President Yoweri Museveni has extended a cash condolence of ten million shillings (Shs 10 million) to the bereaved family of the late Ojok Angwet Jepa, the former Assistant Resident District Commissioner (ARDC) of Apac, who passed away after a long illness.l

The presidential contribution and message of sympathy were delivered on Saturday at the deceased’s ancestral home in Barpama Cell, Adel Ward, Minakulu Town Council, Oyam District by Dr. Akello Alice Opio, the Commissioner in the office of the President in-charge of RDCs in Northern Uganda.
While presenting the shillings 10 Million condolence, Commissioner Dr. Alice Opio, conveyed President Museveni’s regrets for his physical absence, citing pressing national commitments. She relayed the President’s call for unity within the family and the community at large.

The Commissioner’s address also touched upon the forthcoming electoral period. She stated, “The Fountain of Honour has called everyone to vote for him in great numbers as per the population of Oyam district.” She urged the people of Oyam to also elect National Resistance Movement (NRM) parliamentary flag bearers, emphasizing the need for peaceful campaigns. “People should not take the forthcoming election as if there is no tomorrow,” she cautioned.
Dr. Opii specifically advised the family to utilize the presidential condolence fund prudently, suggesting it be directed towards paying school fees for the late Ojok’s grandchildren.
The family expressed profound gratitude for the President’s gesture. Lawrence Ogwang, the firstborn son of the deceased, commended President Museveni. “We commend H.E. the President of the Republic of Uganda for the love he demonstrated for the family during this difficult time. May God continue to guide him and help him to continue with his vibrant leadership of Uganda,” Ogwang stated.
He also seized the moment to call for unity among family members, urging them to uphold the development-oriented principles their father instilled in them while he was alive.

The late Ojok Angwet Jepa died on December 28, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on December 15, 1946, he was remembered as a staunch NRM mobilizer who worked tirelessly to build support for the ruling party in the Lango sub-region during the early 1990s, a period when the movement faced significant local resistance.
