OBONGI, UGANDA – 12th February 2026 – Obongi District has received a fresh consignment of medicines and medical supplies worth 77,829,697/=, destined for Obongi Health Center IV in Obongi Town Council.
The medicines were handed over to Dr. Stephen Issa, the in-charge of Obongi Health Center IV, and Mr. Mawa Bernard, the Assistant Inventory Management Officer, by the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Obongi, Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, at the health center’s medical stores.
This latest delivery brings the total value of medicines supplied to health centers in Obongi District to over 526 million shillings for the third cycle of the Financial Year 2025/2026, which ends in December 2025. Just two weeks ago, the RDC handed over another consignment worth 448,439,318/= to the six Health Center IIIs and ten Health Center IIs in the district.
Hashaka appealed to the management of Obongi Health Center IV and other health centers to ensure that the medicines are used properly and transparently. “The NRM government is committed to ensuring good health for all Obongians,” Hashaka said. “We advise the people of Obongi to avoid self-medication and instead seek medical check-ups at government health facilities.”
Dr. Stephen Issa thanked the government, through the National Medical Stores (NMS), for the medical supplies. “We assure Obongians of good healthcare,” he said.
The delivery is a welcome boost to the healthcare services in Obongi District, where residents have been struggling to access essential medicines. The RDC’s assurance of the government’s commitment to improving healthcare in the district has been well-received by the local community.
The latest consignment is expected to improve the quality of healthcare services at Obongi Health Center IV, which serves a large population in Obongi Town Council and surrounding areas.
