Ngila Acel clan charts unity path as new leaders take oath
LIRA, UGANDA-March 29, 2026:
The Leaders of the Ngila Acel clan have renewed calls for unity and peaceful coexistence following the swearing-in of newly elected officials at Silver Peak Hotel in Lira City amid concerns over internal divisions,education, truth and land-related conflicts.
Speaking during the ceremony held on Friday, Francis Xeviia Abaca, urged members to prioritise cohesion and discipline as a foundation for progress.
He however warned that divisions within the clan risk undermining development efforts, calling on members to uphold respect in their conduct and interactions among the clan members in the Lango sub- region and beyond.
“We must remain united and avoid speaking ill of one another adsing that respect should guide how we speak, dress, work, and relate with others, especially elders, parents, and children,” he stated .
He emphasised that honesty remains central to building a strong institution,clan or a society awith atleast each family generating 10 degree holders, noting that sustainable progress is unattainable in the absence of truth and education.
“There is nothing that can succeed where truth is lacking,” The Clan head re-echoed.
On the other hand, he also cautioned against land disputes, a recurring challenge in many communities, urging members to embrace dialogue and lawful means of conflict resolution revealing plans by the clan leadership to conduct outreach visits across the Lango sub-region, beginning with Amolatar District, and allbtge 9 districts of Lango sub-region as part of efforts to strengthen engagement and unity within the Ngila Acel clan.
The chairperson of the clan electoral commission, Okech Tomson, tasked the new leaders with ensuring accountability and transparency in leadership.
“It is your responsibility as leaders to ensure unity and tranquility within the clan, promote development, and uphold transparency, especially in resolving disputes,” he said.
The ceremony saw several officials take oath, including Abaca Vincent as Speaker and Ocen Ocen as Deputy Speaker.
Former Amolatar District LCV chairperson Peter Ongom Sedu was sworn in as Deputy Chief Leader, alongside Abaca FortFred as 1st Deputy Prime Minister.
Others included Mr. Obong Nelson as Deputy Chairperson of the Electoral Commission and Okello Tonny Trump as Publicity Secretary and Youth Leader.
The new leadership now faces the task of steering the clan through internal challenges while laying a foundation for sustainable development.
