NRM MPs Urged to Unite and be Disciplined as Kyankwanzi Retreat Kicks Off.

KYANKWANZI, UGANDA: NRM Secretary General Rt.Hon. Richard Todwong and Deputy SG Rose Namayanja-Nsereko demanded strict discipline and ideological cohesion from new NRM MPs at a Kyankwanzi retreat, emphasizing unity and alignment with the party’s agenda. The week-long training at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) focuses on wealth creation, national security, and legislative performance to push Uganda toward higher middle-income status.

The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has urged its newly elected Members of Parliament, to potrey discipline and unity as a week-long orientation retreat officially opened at the National Leadership Institute (NALI).

The retreat, which has drawn legislators from across the country, is a high-stakes induction intended to align the 12th Parliament with the party’s core ideological values and the national develolment agenda gered towards socio- economic transformation.


Addressing the MPs during the opening session on Tuesday evening, the NRM Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, described the gathering as a traditional “cleansing and orientation” process. He urged the lawmakers to park their distractions at the gate and focus on the heavy task of nation-building.

“We are here at a time when many issues affecting our country require thoughtful deliberation,” Todwong said. “Use this environment to reflect deeply on your constituencies and the future of Uganda.”

Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong Awany extended a formal olive branch to Independent MPs. He revealed that the party is ready to integrate them through a special memorandum of cooperation, allowing them to participate in NRM caucus activities.
The Deputy Secretary General, Rose Namayanja-Nsereko, outlined the rigorous program, which runs until April 15. The retreat is being held under the theme: “Aligning NRM Leaders to Protect Gains and Accelerate Uganda’s Transition to Higher Middle-Income Status.”

Namayanja emphasized that the MPs will undergo intensive training in ideological orientation, wealth creation, and national security.

“The purpose is to strengthen cohesion within the caucus and build consensus on priority actions for this term. We want to ensure that every member is on the same page regarding socio-economic transformation,” Namayanja explained.
