KYANKWANZI: The Member of Parliament for Ik County in Kaabong District, Hon. Hillary Lokwang, has lauded the ongoing NRM leadership retreat at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) in Kyankwanzi as a vital platform for aligning national development goals with the unique needs of the Karamoja sub-region.
Speaking from the retreat, which commenced on April 7, 2026, Hon. Lokwang expressed his happinesa that the ideological orientation and strategic planning sessions would significantly boost service delivery for his people of Kaabong District. The retreat, themed around “Aligning NRM leadership towards protecting gains and socio economic transformation,” has focused on wealth creation and the full monetisation of Uganda’s economy.
Advocating for the Ik Community,
Hon. Lokwang Hillary a very vibrant MP, noted that the retreat has provided a critical opportunity to engage with top government officials on issues of social-economic transformation specifically tailored for Karamoja region.
“This induction is not just about party ideology; it is about learning how to better diagnose and solve the societal problems affecting our people back home,” Lokwang remarked, thanking president Museveni and echoing President Museveni’s call for leaders to focus on practical solutions for poverty alleviation.
Success in Regional Leadership
The MP’s positive outlook at the retreat follows suceaa of NrM vovernmwnt in Kaabong, he emphasized building unity within the party to prepare for the 2026 general elections—a goal he says is being further solidified through the interactions in Kyankwanzi.
Known for his past achievements in Ik County—including providing solar panels, iron sheets for housing, and sponsoring local students—Hon. Lokwang remains committed to using the knowledge gained at NALI to lobby for improved road infrastructure and healthcare in Kaabong.
