Won Nyaci Dr. Eng. Moses Odongo Okune Rallies Amolatar Leaders on Unity, Applauds Museveni

AMOLATAR,UGANDA — April 9, 2026: The Paramount Chief of Lango (Won Nyaci), Eng. Dr. Moses Michael Odongo Okune, has urged the leadership and residents of Amolatar District to foster unity and speak with a single voice to accelerate development in the area.
His message was delivered by the Etam clan head ( Awitong ), Calvin Atine, during a high-profile prayer breakfast held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the Amolatar Boma Grounds.
“Manage by uniting the Small Population in Amolatar well”reads part of the message.
In a speech focused on stewardship and cohesion, Dr. Eng.Moses Micheal Odongo Okune noted that Amolatar’s relatively small population should be an advantage for efficient service delivery and everlasting unity. He urged leaders to undergo a “change of heart” to ensure the district outshines other districts in Lango with larger local governments structures through transparency and better management.
“Amolatar is small in numbers; this should make it easier to manage and develop if leaders are united and focused on the common good,” Won Nyaci Okune noted.
He also added by commending H.E. President Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for always having Lango at heart.
The Lango Paramount Chief also extended his gratitude to H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his steadfast support of cultural institutions across Uganda including Lango cultural Institution specifically congratulating the President upon his “massive victory” in the Lango sub-region during the recently concluded January 2026 general elections, attributing the win to the strong bond between the government and the people of Lango.
Meanwhile, Kumam Royal Highness Won Ateker, Papa Otaya Raphael joined call for Peace.
The event was also graced by the “Won Ateker me Kumam”, His Royal Highness Raphael Otaya, who lauded the district for organizing a spiritual gathering to bridge gaps and reconciliation. Otaya revealed plans to roll out educational scholarship and sponsorship programs under his kingdom that will benefit all students in Amolatar, regardless of their ethnic background.
Speaking to TAYARI NEWS UGANDA in an exclusive interview, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC), Mr. Obonyo Magwar, welcomed the collaboration among the district team, cultural and religious leaders.
“By bringing the Won Nyaci and the Church into this breakfast prayers, we are positioning Amolatar as a more stable and peaceful district,” Magwar said.
The day’s highlight included the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Rhoda Oroma presenting a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to the Lango Diocese, led by Bishop Prof. Alfred Olwa. The pact seeks to transform the district into an international business and tourism hub, a move expected to create thousands of jobs and provide a ready market for local farm produce.
