KAMPALA, UGANDA-April, 17 2026: Alebtong District has emerged as one of the most improved local governments in Uganda, climbing 17 places in the latest National Performance Review.
The district now ranks 28th out of 176 Local Governments for the 2024/2025 financial year, a significant leap from its 45th position the previous year. Alebtong achieved an impressive overall score of 78% in service delivery.
According to the Resident District Commissioner ( RDC) Okiswa Geoffrey, the results were released at the conclusion of a three-day “National Performance Review Conference” held at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala. The conference, organized by the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), evaluates how effectively districts deliver services to citizens.
Speaking after the conference on Friday, April 17, 2026, the Alebtong Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Okiswa attributed the success to improved supervision and coordination among district technical and political leaders.
“We have concluded the review with great pride. This drastic improvement shows our commitment to serving the people of Alebtong better every year,” the RDC noted.
In the national rankings, Isingiro District took the top spot with a nearly perfect score of 98.37%, followed by Kiruhura District in second place with 97.1%.
The performance assessment considers several factors, including education, health, infrastructure development, and financial accountability. Alebtong’s steady rise is seen as a benchmark for other districts in the Lango sub-region.
