LIRA CITY, UGANDA: April 25, 2026: The office of RCC Lira City has launched a massive mobilization drive for the “Run for Hope,” a high-profile charity event organized to commemorate the 52nd birthday of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Led by Resident City Commissioner (RCC) Lawrence Egole Emmy, the city leadership and security agencies have confirmed their participation in the run, which is scheduled to take place this Sunday, April 26, 2026.
The event is held under the patronage of the Minister of Health and PLU Coordinator for Lango, Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, who has called for a massive turnout from the sub-region.
“As we celebrate General MK’s 52nd birthday, I call upon all the people of Lango to turn up in large numbers. This is more than just a run; it is a walk for charity, unity, and the future of our nation,” Dr. Aceng stated in her congratulatory message to the General.
Event Highlights

• Theme: “Run for Charity, Run for Hope.”
• Flag-off: The run will be officially flagged off at 6:30 AM at the Lira City Mayor’s Garden by RCC Lawrence Egole.
• Charity Focus: Proceeds from the Lira edition will go towards supporting vulnerable children in baby homes across the country.

RCC Egole emphasized that the celebration is a tribute to Gen. Muhoozi’s dedicated service and his commitment to empowering Ugandan youth. He noted that the event will bring together civil servants, politicians, the business community, and the general population to foster unity and physical fitness.
“The Lira City security and its people remain steadfast in their commitment to the General’s vision. This platform allows us to celebrate leadership while giving back to the most vulnerable,” Egole said.
Tributes have been pouring in nationwide for the CDF, with the Lira “Run for Hope” expected to be one of the largest regional celebrations marking his milestone birthday.
