OBONGI, UGANDA – April 28, 2026: The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Obongi, Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, has attributed the district’s recent strides in service delivery to the seamless collaboration between political and technical leaders.
Hashaka made the remarks on Monday while presiding over the commissioning of a newly renovated four-classroom block at Gopele Primary School in Gimara sub-county. The renovation works were completed at a cost of Shs74,624,970.
At the same event, the RDC performed a groundbreaking ceremony for the re-roofing of another four-classroom block at the school, reinforcing the government’s commitment to upgrading educational facilities in the West Nile district.
He specifically commended the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Humphrey Otim Benson, for his technical expertise and the District Chairperson, Haji Abibu Buga Khemis Awadi, for providing effective political oversight.
“The development we are witnessing in Obongi is a product of teamwork. When the technical and political wings pull in the same direction, the mwananchi (common person) is the ultimate winner,” Hashaka said.
Despite the celebrations, the RDC sent a stern warning to school managers and parents regarding the maintenance of public assets. He urged them to take ownership of the new buildings to ensure they benefit future generations.
On the social front, Hashaka condemned the rising cases of defilement in the sub-region. He tasked parents and local leaders to be the first line of defense for children, promising that the law would deal ruthlessly with perpetrators.
The ceremony was attended by a high-level district delegation, including the newly deployed Deputy RDC, Paul Abaho, Assistant RDCs Robert Obina Komakech and Habiba Furaha Umuhoza.
