KAMPALA – In a spectacle of numbers that has left political lovers praising Gen.Muhoozi, the Government Chief Whip and NRM Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda, Rt. Hon. Denis Hamson Obua, has described the April 26 gathering at Kololo as a “defining national moment.”
Under the theme “Run for Hope,” thousands of Ugandans—including top government brass, legislators, and the rank-and-file of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU)—descended upon the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds on Sunday to celebrate the 52nd birthday of the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
While official figures are still being tallied, Obua, with his characteristic flair, characterized the massive turnout as a historic endorsement of patriotism and national unity.
From Conflict to Hope
Speaking exclusively to Tayari News Uganda, Obua noted that the marathon was more than just a fitness drill; it was a symbolic journey. He drew a poignant parallel between the physical run and the socio-political trajectory of Northern Uganda.
“The theme ‘Run for Hope’ resonates profoundly with us in the North. We have journeyed from the pain of conflict to the healing of recovery,” Obua remarked. “Every step taken on that track symbolizes our progress from despair to opportunity. It is a reminder that we are a nation in motion.”
Earlier in the week, the Govt Chief Whip had signaled his commitment by visiting the PLU Secretariat to secure participation kits, emphasizing that the event’s targeting charity and community support espicially for babies homes—was the heartbeat of the celebration.
Obua extended a “heartfelt salute” to supporters from Lango, Acholi, West Nile, and across the country, describing them as the “patriotic generation” that will safeguard Uganda’s future.
“This is not just a birthday; it is history in the making,” Obua declared. “It shows a peaceful Uganda, running together toward a shared destiny.”
