OBONGI, UGANDA – April 28, 2026: Renowned radio presenter and political analyst, Paul Abaho, has officially assumed his duties as the new Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) for Obongi.
Abaho, a household name in the media industry, previously worked with Radio 5, Mbabule FM, and Tayari West TV (formerly Sky TV). His transition from the newsroom to the President’s Office follows his recent appointment by President Yoweri Museveni.
A Patriot’s Call
The new DRDC was warmly received at the President’s Office in Obongi by the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, alongside Assistant RDCs (ARDCs) Umuhoza Habiba Furaha and Komakech Robert Obina.
While welcoming his new deputy, Hashaka commended Abaho for his courage and patriotism. He revealed that Obongi is often shunned by some government officials who view the district as a “hard-to-reach” or “backward” area.
“I thank President Museveni for this appointment and I especially commend Mr. Abaho for accepting to work here. We have seen some appointed DRDCs refuse to report to Obongi because of its remote location, but Abaho has shown that he is ready to serve his country anywhere,” Hashaka said.
Ready for Service
In his maiden remarks, Abaho expressed his gratitude to the President for the opportunity to serve in the civil service. He pledged to use his communication and analytical background to bridge the gap between the government and the community.
“I am grateful for the trust the President has placed in me. I am ready to join hands with the Obongi leadership to ensure we transform this district and effectively monitor government programs,” Abaho said.
Abaho’s arrival completes the district’s administrative team as they move to intensify the implementation of the Parish Development Model (PDM) and other wealth creation initiatives in the West Nile region.
