The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Napak Milton Odongo, has commended the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government for restoring peace and stability in Karamoja, saying residents are now enjoying the benefits of sustained security interventions.

In a mobilisation message issued ahead of the May 12, 2026 presidential swearing-in ceremony at Kololo Independence Grounds, the RDC told the media in a press briefing narrating that the region has registered remarkable progress under President Yoweri Museveni’s leadership over the last 40 years.
The statement highlighted the impact of “Usalama Kwa Wote,” an intelligence-led security operation launched in 2021 to curb cattle rustling, illegal firearms and criminal activities in Karamoja.

According to the RDC, the operation combined military action, community engagement, rehabilitation and empowerment programmes to restore peace in the region.
The RDC revealed that more than 140 illegal guns and over 700 rounds of ammunition have been recovered in Napak since the operation began.
He noted that the recovery of illegal firearms has significantly reduced insecurity and criminal activities in the affected communities.
The statement further indicated that civil-military programmes have been intensified through community sensitisation and dialogue aimed at discouraging cattle raiding and promoting peaceful coexistence among residents.
Residents of Napak were encouraged to participate in both national and district celebrations organised for the inauguration ceremonies.
