KAMPALA, UGANDA: Hon MP Beatrice Akello Akori, was on Wednesday 13, May, 2026 sworn-in as the Agago District Woman Member of Parliament, sealing her second five-year tenure in the August House.
MP Akello Akori took the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Member of Parliament on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, joining other MPs in the term 2026-2031.
The National Resistance Movement (NRM) vibrant Minister Akori enters the 12th Parliament carrying a heavy legislative mandate from the Acholi sub-region, where voters are increasingly supportjng the NRM party due to her good moblization strategy on wealth creation and socio-economic transformation for their political loyalty.
Speaking to reporters at Parliament immediately after taking her oaths, Hon MP Akello Beatrice Akori extended appreciation to her constituents for renewing her mandate, promising an aggressive approach toward service delivery.
“The focus for the next five years is strict oversight. We are moving away from mere political representation to ensuring that money dispatched by the central government changes the actual lives of our people in Agago,” Hon. Akello said.
As the minister of state who served in charge of economic monitoring, she noted that her dual role puts her in a strategic position to weed out corruption and ghost beneficiaries within her constituency and beyobd particularly inside regional poverty alleviation initiatives.
Top on her local agenda is the tightening of oversight over the Parish Development Model (PDM) and the Emyooga funds, which have previously been bogged down by administrative bottlenecks and allegations of extortion across Northern Uganda.
“My office is going to ensure wealth creation so that the subsistence farmers in Agago can shift to commercial agriculture,” she emphasized.
Accompanied by a delegation of local elders, family, and NRM mobilizers from Agago, the legislator was handed the instruments of parliamentary office, including the Constitution of Uganda and the House Rules of Procedure.
Her swearing-in comes as Parliament rushes to an election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker that shall be conducted soon.
