ALEBTONG — The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Alebtong District, Geoffrey Okiswa, has extended a profound congratulatory message to the newly elected Speaker of the 12th Parliament, Rt. Hon. Jacob Maxwell Oboth-Oboth, and Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, praising their victory as a triumph of personal discipline and strong character.
Reflecting on Monday’s landslide elections at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, Okiswa noted that the overwhelming mandate handed to the duo by the representatives of the people was a visible validation of their unique leadership traits.
“The people talked and the representatives of the people, nonverbally talked too,” RDC Okiswa stated. “I attentively saw it coming your way. This was majorly due to your strong character and discipline, because character counts.”
In his message, the RDC emphasized that the global community and Members of Parliament recognized distinct, foundational values in both Speaker Rt. Hon Oboth-Oboth and Rt. Hon Tayebwa Thomas. He outlined seven core character pillars that defined their victory:
- Humility
- Trustworthiness
- Respect
- Care
- Fairness
- Responsibility and
- Patriotism
“The above pillars of good character are prerequisites of leadership qualities that will propel the country into socio-economic transformation,” Okiswa added, noting that these values are crucial for steering the legislative arm of government effectively.
Emulating Smart Hard Work:
The Alebtong Resident District Commissioner committed to aligning local administrative monitoring with the standard set by the new parliamentary presiding officers. He noted that grassroots structures in the Lango sub-region will emulate this blend of good character and smart hard work to ensure government wealth creation programs yield measurable fruits.
“We shall emulate your good character blended with smart hard work to enable our communities not only become wealthy and get jobs but also position the country into a middle-income status,” the RDC noted.
No Sleep for Wealth Creation
Okiswa concluded by reminding public servants and citizens that the strategic guidance issued by H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at State House Entebbe must be executed with absolute urgency.
He rallied the population of Alebtong to embrace the presidential directive for the new term, emphasizing that under the ruling party’s current development blueprint, it is strictly a “Kisanja No Sleep” (a term of tireless work) dedicated to securing absolute wealth creation and socio- economic transformation.
