The Obongi District Ebola Task Force has suspended the Play Day celebration that was scheduled for June 11, 2026, citing the rising threat of Ebola in the country.
The decision was reached during a task force meeting chaired by Resident District Commissioner Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka. The event had been organized by Right To Play.
“Public Safety Comes First”
RDC Hashaka said the suspension is a precautionary measure to protect residents as the district steps up surveillance and preventive action.
“The organizers have been advised to halt the event for the next 21 days as we monitor the situation and roll out measures to safeguard public health,” Hashaka told the meeting.
The meeting was attended by Assistant RDC Komakech Robert Obina, Assistant District Health Officer Dominic, District Police Commander SP Akena Moses, and other members of the District Ebola Task Force.
Public Urged to Stay Alert:
The task force urged the public to remain vigilant and strictly follow all health guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health.
Residents were asked to avoid public gatherings, wash hands regularly, and report any suspected Ebola cases to health authorities immediately.
