Tension flared in Obongi District after corrupt leaders attempted to be elected unopposed to Parish Development Model (PDM) SACCOs.
District Chairperson Haji Abibu Buga Khemis Awadi and Resident District Commissioner Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka have intervened to stop the irregularities.

RDC HASAKA AND LCV CHAIRMAN KHEMIS STOPPED JAILED OFFICIALS FROM PDM JOBS, AS VOTERS REJECTED CORRUPT PDM LEADERS
The Office of the RDC, District Chairperson and Chief Administrative Officer have formed a monitoring and supervisory committee to oversee PDM leadership elections in all 28 parishes in Obongi.
The team is headed by Chairperson Haji Abibu Buga. Members include the District Executive Committee, the District Commercial Officer, RDC Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, Deputy RDC Paul Abaho, and Assistant RDCs Komakech Robert Obina and Umuhoza Habiba Furaha.
The committee discovered that some vetting teams had cleared and declared corrupt individuals as unopposed PDM SACCO leaders.
In Ewafa Parish, Ewafa Sub-county, the District Chairperson Khemis and RDC Hasaka intervened after PDM SACCO leaders who had been sent to prison over corruption were vetted and declared unopposed. This was contrary to PDM SACCO guidelines.
The three officials were thrown out.

The former Chairperson of Ewafa Parish PDM SACCO, who was among those arrested and imprisoned for corruption, insisted on standing again as chairperson.
He was defeated after residents refused to line up behind him.
