NRM intensifies grassroots campaign ahead of June 24 Woman MP by-election

Kalangala, Uganda: NRM Vice Chairperson for Buganda Region, Hon. Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo, has kicked off mobilisation activities in Kalangala District to drum up support for the party flag bearer in the Woman MP by-election.
Kasolo, together with district party leaders, held an engagement meeting on Sunday morning with boda-boda riders under their umbrella group Boda Boda Kalangala Ku Museveni in Kalangala Town Council.
The meeting marked the start of an intensive grassroots campaign in support of Idah Nabayiga, the NRM flag bearer for the Kalangala District Woman MP by-election slated for June 24, 2026.
‘Reclaim abandoned projects’
Bujumba County MP William Lugoloobi urged the riders to mobilise voters for Nabayiga so they can “work together to reclaim and return abandoned projects such as the Aqua Park and the Palm Oil project.”

The Kalangala Woman MP seat fell vacant following the death of Hon. Hellen Nakimuli.
Meanwhile, Nabayiga has pitched camp at Ggunga Landing Site in Buggala Parish, Mazinga Sub-county, where she is meeting voters in their communities.
NRM Vice Chairperson for Buganda Haruna Kasolo has started campaigns in Kalangala for party flag bearer Idah Nabayiga ahead of the June 24th Woman MP by-election. Kasolo met boda-boda riders in Kalangala Town under their group Boda Boda Kalangala Ku Museveni. Bujumba MP William Lugoloobi asked riders to rally support for Nabayiga to revive projects like the Aqua Park and Palm Oil project. The seat fell vacant after the death of MP Hellen Nakimuli. Nabayiga is currently campaigning at Ggunga Landing Site in Mazinga Sub-county.
