Kwania, Uganda June 18, 2026: Kwania District has launched the distribution of 48,861 hand hoes supplied by the Office of the Prime Minister through the Ministry of Agriculture.
The launch, held Wednesday at 1:30pm, was presided over by Deputy CAO Robert O, District Chairperson Hon. Akaka KK, Woman MP Hon. Auma Kenny, Deputy RDC Aturu Abraham, other district technical staff and opinion leaders.
The hoes were procured from A.K Estate Limited under a government programme to boost household agriculture.
Target poor households:
Leaders stressed that the hoes are meant for poor households, not the rich. They called for transparency, accountability and equitable distribution.
“The inputs must reach intended beneficiaries and be used to improve household livelihoods and agricultural production,” officials said.

Distribution starts:
Each town council and sub-county will collect hoes from the district and store them at their Plant and Health offices. Distribution to beneficiaries starts immediately under supervision of technical teams.
District leaders thanked the OPM for the support, saying it will enhance food security, increase productivity and reduce poverty.
Warning on corruption:
Kwania Deputy RDC Aturu Abraham warned against corruption in government programmes.
“Corruption in Cattle Restocking, PDM, Emyooga and others must stop. All those involved will be arrested and prosecuted as directed by H.E. the President,” Aturu stated.

A farmer from Aduku town council congratulated the district leadership of Kwania for the unity they have shown during the launch of the distribution of hand hoes.
