
IGG Hailed as Embattled Chris Obore, 7 Other Parliament Officials Arrested Over Corruption in Billions.

Kampala, July 2, 2026: The Inspectorate of Government [IGG] has been praised for its crackdown on corruption after arresting seven senior Parliament employees, including the embattled Director of Communications Mr. Chris Obore.

All the officials were charged and taken to court to answer charges of alleged corruption.
At 8:30am, the IGG summoned senior Parliament staff. Many were at Munyonyo Speke Resort Hotel for an ongoing induction. Others were at Parliament, and some were still at home experiencing serious heartbeat of thw bad news of joining the jail.
All phones were reachable and they were instructed to report to the 5th Floor, Jubilee Building by 9:30am. Once assembled, charge sheets were read to them before they were taken to court.
Officials arrested:
- Mr. Chris Obore – Director Communications, Parliament
- Mr. Adilo Daniel – Director Human Resource, Parliament
- Mr. Leonard Okema – Executive Secretary, Office of the Speaker
- Mr. Rajab Kaaya Ssemalulu – Principal Research Officer, Parliament
- Mr. Emmanuel Emuron Okwi – Principal Protocol Officer, Parliament
- Mr. Vincent Otebata – Capacity Development Officer, Parliament
- Mr. Methods Murebe – Chief Executive Officer, Uganda Parliamentary Cooperative Savings & Credit Society Ltd [SACCO]
The operation drew praise online with calls for a “Zero corruption in parliament and beyond.” Residents in different parts of the country jubilated and welcomed the IGG’s swift action against senior officials, saying it sends a strong signal on accountability in public office inckuding the parliament.
The IGG is yet to issue a detailed statement on the specific charges.
The IGG arrested eight senior Parliament staff including embattled Director Communications Chris Obore. Officials were summoned to Jubilee Building at 9:30am and charged. Those held include HR Director Adilo Daniel and SACCO CEO Methods Murebe. The operation was praised as a ‘zero tolerance to corruption’ as citizens jubilated and praised IGG for the standard arrest.
