St. Gracious SS Lira Management Refutes Accident Claims Involving Parents as Baseless.

The administration of St. Gracious Secondary School in Lira City has strongly denied social media reports claiming that some of their parents were killed or injured in a road accident on Saturday, July 4, 2026.
In a phone interview, Principal Martin Ojok confirmed that no parent or staff member of St. Gracious SS was involved in the incident. He condemned the “misinformation” as unprofessional and defamatory, emphasizing that all their parents are safe. He clarified that the accident actually involved a Gulu University bus returning from a wedding ceremony at Mara Community Church in Anai, along the Lira–Apac highway.
Ojok noted that the false report was “intentionally or mistakenly” linked to their school, damaging its reputation. He added that the school’s bus was fully occupied that day transporting parents and students for Visitation Day, unrelated to the crash.
North Kyoga Regional Police PRO, SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, confirmed the actual accident and Said a Gulu University bus carrying wedding guests from Boke Ward in Lira City was hit by a speeding Fuso lorry carrying market vendors from coming back from Aduku, he added that the collision occurred at Rainbow along the Lira–Aduku highway when the bus driver joined the highway, Where Several passengers from both vehicles sustained injuries and were rushed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital and MidTown Clinic for treatment.
“No St. Gracious SS parents were involved in the accident that took place at Rainbow in Lira City on Saturday eveningwhereby Gulu University bus were involved” Said Principal Ojok Marthin. St. Gracious school management has refuted all the circulated writeup on social media about the incident by an individual as false claims.
