Accident occurs as bus returns from traditional marriage in Boke.
LIRA/GULU — Several were injured on Saturday evening after a Gulu University bus collided with a Fuso lorry at Rainbow, along the Lira-Aduku Highway, police and witnesses said.
According to information from the police PRO North Kyoga Region, SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Gulu university bus had transported mourners and guests from Gulu to a traditional marriage ceremony in Boke. While returning to Gulu, the driver was joining the highway at Rainbow when a speeding Fuso lorry carrying market vendors from Aduku knocked the bus.
“Few passengers from the bus and the Fuso lorry sustained injuries,” a source at the scene said.
Victims rushed to hospital:
The injured were rushed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital and Midtown Clinic for treatment.
The exact number of casualties was yet to be confirmed.
