621 households to benefit as district launches sensitisation.

ALEBTONG — Alebtong Resident District Commissioner [RDC] Geoffrey Okiswa, has warned leaders and beneficiaries against extortion and soliciting gifts in the ongoing government cattle restocking programme.
Speaking on Saturday during the launch of a district-wide sensitisation at Akura Sub-county, Mr. Okiswa said the programme is intended to help households restock cattle lost to Kony rebels and Karamojong rustlers.

‘Givers and extortionists will be arrested’
“The government grant is Shs5 million per household, for five cattle — two bulls and three cows — to restock much earlier,” Okiswa said.
He warned that both those giving and those demanding money would face criminal action. “The givers and extortionists shall both be criminally liable and shall be arrested,” He warned.
RDC Okiswa directed sub-county leaders to strictly monitor the programme and ensure beneficiaries have bought the cattle.
For the 2025/26 financial year, nine households will benefit from each of the 69 parishes in the district, totalling 621 households. The allocation is valued at Shs3.105 billion.
“More shall benefit in the subsequent financial years,” the RDC added.
