KAMPALA — The National Resistance Movement [NRM] Electoral Commission has called on all party members to turn up for village barazas on Friday, July 10, 2026, to verify and confirm the party’s flag bearers for the upcoming LCI and Women Council elections.
Addressing the press at the commission headquarters in Kampala, NRM Electoral Commission Chairman Dr. Tanga Odoi said the exercise is a critical step in implementing the party’s electoral roadmap.
“This is about ensuring that every village has duly verified candidates ahead of the national nomination process,” Dr. Odoi said.
Nationwide mobilization
According to Dr. Odoi, the barazas will be held simultaneously in all 72,000 villages across the country, beginning at 10:00a.m.
Party members are expected to attend their respective villages to scrutinize, confirm, and endorse NRM candidates who will carry the party flag in the LCI and Women Council polls.
The commission emphasized that the verification process is aimed at strengthening grassroots democracy and avoiding disputes during nominations.
The verified names from the village barazas will feed into the party’s final list ahead of the Electoral Commission’s official nomination dates.
Party structures at district, sub-county, and parish levels have been tasked to mobilize members and ensure order during the exercise.
