St. Gracious SS’ Okwir Abel wins silver for Uganda as FEASSA group stages climax.

MOROGORO: St. Gracious Secondary School has added to Uganda’s medal tally at the FEASSA Games 2026 after Okwir Abel won silver in the boys’ high jump in Morogoro, Tanzania.
Okwir’s medal came as Uganda entered the final day of group stage matches on Tuesday, August 18, with schools from across the region battling for quarterfinal slots.

Okwir Abel, representing St. Gracious SS, secured second place in the high jump to give Uganda another podium finish at the 23rd edition of the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Associations championships.

The silver adds to Uganda’s growing athletics haul and highlights St. Gracious SS’ growing reputation in track and field at the East African school games.
Football: Ugandan schools in decisive fixtures
With matches in the same group scheduled simultaneously to avoid match fixing, Ugandan schools are in action across both boys’ and girls’ categories.
Boys fixtures:
- 10:00 AM: Amusi College (UG) vs Nsumba (TZ) | Ujenzi
- 2:00 PM: St. Mary’s Kitende (UG) vs Morogoro (TZ) | Ujenzi
- 4:00 PM: Kyaddondo SSS (UG) vs Urambo (TZ) | Highland
- 4:00 PM: Bukedea SC (UG) vs Kakamega (KE) | Ujenzi
Girls fixtures:
- 8:00 AM: Jinja Progressive (UG) vs Rines SS (UG) | MUM
- 12:00 PM: Boni Consil Girls (UG) vs St. Joseph Kitale (KE) | Ujenzi
Other fixtures comprised of schools from Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda in Groups A, B and C.
The FEASSA Games 2026 are being held in Morogoro from 14th to 22nd August. Knockout stages are expected to begin immediately after the group games conclude.
