Mama Museveni alias Aletiru Scovia declared unopposed as Obongi Town Council Women Chairperson.

OBONGI, UGANDA: The NRM flag bearer, Hon. Aletiru Scovia alias “Mama Museveni”, has been declared the duly elected Chairperson of the Women Council for Obongi Town Council after going through unopposed.
The declaration was made at midday on Tuesday by the Obongi Town Registrar, Electoral Commission, Buga Fazil, at the EC headquarters in Obongi Town.
According to the registrar, no other candidate showed up to challenge Aletiru Scovia, paving the way for her unopposed victory.
Aletiru Scovia was accompanied to the declaration by her entire executive, who were also elected unopposed. They include:
- Vice Chairperson: Agua Zainab
- General Secretary: Undo Asina
- Secretary for Publicity: Osoru Leo Angela
- Secretary for Finance: Dudu Zairun
“Thank you for the trust”
Speaking after the declaration, Mama Museveni (Hon Aletiru Scovia ) thanked the women of Obongi Town for fronting her at the village, parish and town council levels without opposition.
“I thank the women of Obongi Town for the trust and confidence they have given me. This unopposed election shows unity,” she said.
Pushed for District Role
Women council leaders in Obongi District used the occasion to request Mama Museveni to also contest for the position of Chairperson Women Council Obongi District.
Aletiru Scovia accepted the request and pledged to unite women, fight corruption, and strengthen the NRM party structures in Obongi District.
The unopposed elections signal growing support for NRM women leaders ahead of the 2031 general elections.
