AGAGO, UGANDA: The Minister for Relief, Disaster prepardness and Refugees, Hon Sam Engola, joined the Prime Minister and Cabinet colleagues to officially dispatch relief food to Agago District in a major government intervention to cushion households hit by hunger.

The food supplies, generously donated by Pastor Kakande Ministries, were flagged off as emergency support for Agago, which is currently facing severe food insecurity similar to neighboring Karamoja region.
Speaking during the dispatch, Hon Engola said government was acting swiftly to ensure no Ugandan sleeps hungry.
“In response to the growing hunger crisis in Agago District, the Prime Minister, Hon Minister for Northern Uganda Beatrice Akello Akori, Colleague Ministers and Hon Sam Engola officially dispatched relief food to aid affected households,” Engola said.
Hon Sam Engola commended Pastor Kakande Ministries for the timely donation, noting that such partnerships are critical in addressing urgent humanitarian needs.

Agago district leaders have in recent weeks raised alarm over rising cases of food shortages and malnutrition linked to poor harvests and prolonged dry spells.
Government officials said the relief will be distributed through OPM and district teams to the most vulnerable families, with priority given to households with children, the elderly and persons with disabilities.
Hon Engola pledged continued government monitoring to ensure the food reaches intended beneficiaries without diversion.
