Ann Lumumba Ruyondo Meets Hon Aletiru Scovia, Pledges to Uplift Women in Obongi.

KAMPALA – The newly elected Chairperson of the National Women Council, Ms Ann Lumumba Ruyondo, has met her counterpart, the Obongi District Women Council Chairperson, Hon Aletiru Scovia alias Mama Museveni, and pledged to uplift the standard of women in Obongi District.
Ms Ruyondo met Mama Museveni shortly after the National Women Council elections held at Kyambogo College on Friday.
Mama Museveni was one of the main campaign managers for Ms Ruyondo, who was declared unopposed.
Ms Ruyondo thanked Hon Aletiru for the great role she played among women leaders in West Nile in particular and Uganda in general, which contributed to her being elected unopposed as the new Chairperson of the National Women Council.
She pledged to uplift the standard of women in Obongi District in particular and Uganda at large, promising to visit Obongi and other districts across the country to fulfil her pledge of empowering women.
In response, Hon Aletiru congratulated Ms Ruyondo upon being elected leader of women in Uganda and pledged to work with her in uplifting the standard of women in the country.
She thanked the women of Obongi for voting her unopposed as Chairperson of the Obongi District Women Council, which enabled her to be part of the national conference at Kyambogo that elected Ms Ruyondo.
Hon Aletiru also thanked President Yoweri Museveni and the NRM government for the women emancipation process that has promoted democracy and development of women in Uganda.
