Former LC3 Olum Quirino Predicts Early Lead for Minister Henry Oryem Okello in Chua County MP Race.

KITGUM, UGANDA – November 27, 2025 – As the political landscape for the 2026 general elections begins to take shape, former LC3 Chairman of Orom Sub County, Mr. Quirino Olum, has confidently asserted that Minister Henry Oryem Okello is positioned for an early and decisive victory in the race for the Chua County parliamentary seat.
Quirino Olum confirmed on Thursday afternoon on phone that the momentum is getting to the climax with Hon. Minister Henry Oryem Okello, predicting an early lead ahead of 2026 general elections. He highlighted significant support bases within Orom, Akilok, Namukora, and Omiya Anyima sub-counties, all of which he claims are rallying behind the Minister massively with over 80 %.
“The people of Orom, Akilok, Namukora, and Omiya Anyima are overwhelmingly in support of Hon. Minister Henry Oryem Okello,” Olum stated. “My experience tells me he is on an early lead, and that support is only set to grow.”
Olum attributed this strong backing to Minister Oryem Okello’s tangible contributions to the development of Chua County. He specifically cited improvements in road infrastructure, advancements in healthcare facilities, and enhanced educational opportunities as key factors resonating with the electorate.
Furthermore, Olum pointed to the successful implementation of various government programs within Chua County, such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyoga, and Youth Livelihood Programme (YLP), as evidence of the Minister’s effectiveness in bringing development to the region.
As the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer, Minister Oryem Okello has reportedly made a significant impact across Chua County, with Olum noting that the vibrant NRM colors have “painted the whole of Chua County yellow ahead of 2026,” a visual representation of his widespread campaign presence and perceived popularity. The upcoming election is shaping up to be a crucial contest for the representation of Chua County. John Calvin Okoya on an Independent ticket and Jonathan Onencan on Democratic party front are yet to face him in the forthcoming 2026 general elections
