KITGUM, UGANDA – December 14, 2025 – In a bid to strengthen party cohesion and coordination, the Kitgum District NRM leadership convened an exclusive meeting that brought together all NRM Party Flagbearers from Mayoral to Parliamentary levels. The meeting, which was convened by the NRM District Chairperson, Hon. Lapyem Emmanuel, aimed at enhancing teamwork as the party prepares for the 2026 polls.
The high-profile meeting, held on December 14, 2025, was attended by several prominent NRM party members, including Minister Aber Lillian, the Kitgum District Woman MP Flagbearer, Minister Oryem Henry Okello, the Chua East MP Flagbearer, and Minister Atim Beatrice Anywar, the Kitgum Municipality MP Flagbearer. Other notable attendees included Oryema Simon Peter Adum, the Chua West MP Flagbearer, Tolit Tonny Blair, the LCV Chairperson Flagbearer, and Ocan Raymond, the Kitgum Municipality Mayoral Flagbearer.
The meeting also drew members of the NRM Kitgum District and Municipality Executive, among other party stakeholders. The gathering was seen as a crucial step towards protecting the party’s gains in the region as it prepares for the 2026-2031 electoral cycle.
According to sources, the meeting focused on strategies to enhance party unity, improve coordination, and boost teamwork among flagbearers and other party leaders. The discussions centered on the theme “Protecting The Gains as Kitgum prepares for 2026-2031,” highlighting the party’s commitment to consolidating its support base in the region.
The NRM District Chairperson, Hon. Lapyem Emmanuel, emphasized the importance of unity and cohesion within the party, stressing that a strong and united NRM is essential for achieving success in the upcoming polls. The meeting provided a platform for flagbearers and party leaders to share their experiences, address challenges, and align their strategies towards a common goal of ensuring the party’s victory in the 2026 elections.
As the party gears up for the polls, the meeting in Kitgum is seen as a significant step towards strengthening the NRM’s grassroots support and preparing its leaders for the electoral challenges ahead.
