All Set for Ajuri Parliamentary Election Re-Run on January 27, 2026, Political Fever also Rises.

ALEBTONG, UGANDA- January 26, 2026: The stage is set for election re-run in 18 polling stations of Awei and Abako in Ajuri constituency, Alebtong district as the Electoral Commission (EC) officially announces the re-run of the parliamentary election for Tuesday, January 27, 2026. The re-run follows a close and contested outcome in the previous general elections, which prompted calls for a fresh vote rerun in the disputed 18 polling stations to ensure transparency and public confidence in the electoral process.
The election re-run will decide who will be the next Ajuri constituency MP between two prominent figures: Hon. Jalameso Fred and Rt. Hon. Hamson Denis Obua making the re-run critical not only for Ajuri county but also across the Lango sub-region.
In Ajuri county as of Monday afternoon, political fever is mounting as voters get ready to cast their votes on Tuesday. Hon. Jalameso Fred of UPC and Rt. Hon. Hamson Denis Obua of NRM, are now the prominent two bulls in the political kraal.
One voter, speaking on condition of anonymity from Abako sub-county, expressed overwhelming readiness among residents to participate in the re-run election. “The turn-up for voting this time may reach 95 percent,” the voter said. “People are awake, informed, and ready 24/7 to cast their votes in favor of their candidates—without fear or favor.”
According to the Alebtong Resident District Commissioner( RDC ), Okiswa Geoffrey, security has been beefed up across the constituency, with police and other security officials on high alert to prevent any election-related violence. RDC Okiswa Geoffrey assured the media on Sunday 25th January 2026, that the District security commeettee ( DSC) are fully prepared. “Our priority is the safety of every voter. We will not tolerate any act of violence, intimidation or disruption of the electoral process in Ajuri County on Tuesday 27th January, 2026.” added Okiswa.
The January 27 re-run is seen not only as a pivotal moment for Ajuri but also as a test of Uganda’s evolving democratic landscape. With citizens more engaged than ever, the world will be watching as Ajuri goes back to the polls to decide its future representative in the 12th Parliament.
