
President Museveni Presides Over Grand 40th NRM/A Liberation Anniversary at Kololo.

Kampala, Uganda-January 26, 2026 : His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda,Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Monday 26th, January, 2026, presided over the grand celebrations marking the 40th anniversary of the National Resistance Movement/Army (NRM/A) liberation, held at the historic Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala. The momentous occasion, attended by tens of thousands of Ugandans from across the country, was a vibrant display of patriotism, unity, and gratitude for the strides made since the 1986 liberation.
This year’s celebrations unfolded under the powerful theme: “A Tribute to the Patriots who Ushered in the Fundamental Change,” a reverent acknowledgment of the fighters, leaders, and civilians who sacrificed for Uganda’s socio-political transformation over the past four decades.



President Museveni, received a thunderous welcome from the crowd.
Among the dignitaries in attendance were ; Vice President, H.E. Maj.Rtd.Jesica Alupo , RT HON Speaker Annet Anita Among; Rt. Hon. Moses Kigongo, Deputy Speaker, Thomas Tayebwa; NRM Secretary General Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong Awany; several cabinet ministers, security officials, and cultural leaders from across the nation.
The 40th anniversary is part of a week-long series of events across the country by the UPDF, including community clean-ups, health outreach programs, among others.
