
Obongi District Receives Medicines and Supplies worth over 448 million shillings.

Obongi, Uganda – January 28, 2026 – The Obongi district has received a significant boost to its healthcare system with the delivery of medicines and supplies worth over 448 million shillings. The shipment, which includes essential medicines and equipment, was handed over to the Assistant District Health Officer (ADHO) in charge of maternal health, Sunday Dragule, at the Obongi district health office.
The medicines, which are for the third quarter, were delivered by the National Medical Stores (NMS) and were received by the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Obongi, Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, and the Assistant Resident District Commissioners (ARDCs) Umuhoza Habiba Furaha and Komakech Robert.
RDC Hashaka expressed his gratitude to the NMS for their role in delivering the medicines, stating that the government is committed to ensuring good health for all Ugandans by offering free medical services. He assured the people of Obongi that President Yoweri Museveni and the NRM government are dedicated to improving the healthcare system in the district.
Hashaka advised the residents of Obongi to take advantage of the free medical services available at the district’s health centers, including the 10 health center IIs, 6 health center IIIs, and the Obongi health center IV, which is set to be elevated to a hospital status as pledged by President Museveni during his visit to Obongi on October 17, 2025.

On behalf of Obongi district, ADHO Dragule thanked the government for consistently supplying medicines through the NMS on a timely basis. RDC Hashaka also assured the residents that the medicines for Obongi health center IV had arrived in the district and encouraged all leaders and citizens to monitor the delivery and use of the medicines.
The medicines delivered include a range of essential items, such as antibiotics, anti-malarials, ARVs, anti-TB medicines, IV fluids, pain killers, detergents, and nutrition boosters for undernourished children. The delivery of these medicines is expected to significantly improve the healthcare services available to the residents of Obongi district.
The Obongi district has been working to improve its healthcare system, and the delivery of these medicines and supplies is a significant step forward in achieving this goal. With the government’s commitment to providing free medical services and the timely delivery of essential medicines, the residents of Obongi can expect to receive better healthcare services in the coming months.
