Don’t Turn Easter Festivities into a Crime Spree, Kwania Deputy RDC Aturu Abrahams Warns.
KWANIA, UGANDA— The Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) of Kwania, Abrahams Aturu, has issued a stern warning to criminals planning to disrupt the Easter festivities, vowing that security agencies have tightened their grip to ensure a peaceful holiday.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on Saturday evening, Aturu revealed that security measures have been heightened across the district to curb potential surges in crime. He noted that the extended holiday often attracts large crowds, which can provide a windfall for lawbreakers if left unchecked.
“We are aware that such seasons can lead to increased criminal activity. We have put enough measures in place to ensure our people celebrate in total peace,” Aturu said.
No Mercy for Thieves
The Deputy RDC specifically took aim at those targeting livestock and private property. He warned that individuals involved in stealing goats and cows or breaking into houses would be met with the full force of the law.
“Anyone caught stealing or breaking into homes will face serious prosecution. We shall deal with you via the rule of law without hesitation,” he cautioned.
Emulate Christ
In his Easter message to the faithful, Aturu appealed to Christians to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ with love and peace. He urged believers to use the season for spiritual reflection rather than engaging in vice.
“This day should be used to reflect on the unending love that Jesus Christ demonstrated by surrendering Himself to die on the cross so that others may gain everlasting life. It should not be used as an opportunity to commit crimes,” Aturu noted.
He further called upon believers to emulate the character of Christ by accepting to endure challenges and suffering in faith, while remaining law-abiding citizens.
Security patrols are expected to remain intensive throughout the district until the conclusion of the holiday period.
