Obongi ARDC Komakech Obina, Warns on Defilement as District Athletics Close.

OBONGI: The Assistant Resident District Commissioner (ARDC) of Obongi, Robert Obina Komakech, has issued a stern warning against the rising cases of defilement in the district, describing it as a “grave crime” that is destroying the future of the youth.
Speaking on behalf of the RDC, Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, during the closure of the Obongi District Athletics Competition on Sunday, Komakech emphasized that the law would deal decisively with perpetrators.
“This is a grave crime that destroys the future of our children. I strongly warn those involved that the law will deal with them decisively. Let us all take responsibility to protect our children,” Komakech stated.
The ARDC also expressed disappointment over a sub-county that failed to send athletes to the competition, calling the move “unacceptable negligence.” He noted that such failures deny young people a platform to showcase their talents and called for firm administrative action against the responsible officials.
The event, attended by the District Secretary for Education, Hon. Michael Azubu, and the District Inspector of Schools, Ismael Buga, served as a selection ground for the upcoming national athletics competition in Tororo District.
Komakech congratulated the winning athletes and urged the selected team to begin immediate preparations to represent Obongi as excellent ambassadors.
“Sports is not only about competition—it promotes unity and discipline. It keeps our young people engaged and opens doors to greater opportunities,” he added.
The competition concluded with a call from ARDC Komakech Obina to stakeholders, including head teachers and coaches, to continue nurturing local talent to ensure Obongi District remains competitive at the national level.
