LIRA CITY, UGANDA- April 20, 2026: The Secretary of the Uganda Taxi Operators and Drivers Association (UTODA), Mr. Benard Anyeko Masanga, has called on all drivers within Lango sub-region to take advantage of a newly launched mobile driving permit service ongoing in Lira city this week. He urged all drivers in the transport sector to take advantage of a newly launched  mobile driving permit service as an oppurtunity at hand.
The initiative, organized by the Ministry of Works and Transport, aims to bring essential licensing services directly to motorists in Northern Uganda. Anyeko revealed that the “Mobile Enrolment System” will run for 10 days, starting from April 20 to April 30, 2026.
The mobile team is currently stationed at the Ministry of Works premises near Lira Airfield, located along Aloi Road.
According to Anyeko, the team is offering a comprehensive suite of services, including:

  • Processing new computerised driving licences.
  • Renewing expired permits.
  • Replacing lost driving documents.
  • Extending driving classes for both vehicle drivers and motorcycle riders.

Anyeko urged the public to utilize this window to avoid the costs and time associated with traveling to the capital for such services. “This is a rare opportunity for our people to get their documents in order right here at home,” Anyeko stated.
The call comes shortly after the North Kyoga Regional Traffic Officer reminded the public that holding a valid permit is a legal requirement for road safety. Motorists have been advised to visit the Lira Airfield site early to beat the expected last-minute rush.
