LIRA CITY, UGANDA– April 30, 2026: In a bid to stimulate local entrepreneurship and combat youth unemployment, GLOFORD Uganda has unveiled a “Business Booster” grant scheme targeting young entrepreneurs in Lira.
The initiative offers grants of up to UGX 500,000 to youth aged between 14 and 30 years who are looking to scale up their small-scale businesses or launch innovative start-ups.
Empowering the Next Generation
The program comes at a time when the government is intensifying efforts to empower young people through wealth creation initiatives. By providing direct capital, GLOFORD aims to bridge the financing gap that often prevents youth-led enterprises from growing beyond the “idea” stage.
“We want our youth to start small but dream big. This grant is a springboard for those who have the vision but lack the initial capital to boost their stock or improve their services,” a representative from the organization noted.
How to Apply:
Interested applicants are required to submit their applications at the GLOFORD Uganda Office in Lira. The window for applications is narrow, with the deadline set for May 4, 2026.
The selection process is expected to favor businesses that demonstrate sustainability, creativity, and the potential to create further employment opportunities within the community.
In addition to the financial boost, the successful applicants are expected to benefit from mentorship and business advisory services to ensure the prudent management of the funds. This aligns with national goals of fostering a culture of self-reliance among the youth in Northern Uganda.
Local leaders have lauded the move, urging the youth in Lira to seize the opportunity before the looming deadline.
