LIRA CITY, UGANDA–April 30, 2026: Young entrepreneurs in Lira City have a reason to smile following the launch of the “Youth in Business Booster Grants,” an initiative aimed at fueling small enterprises and sustainable ventures.
The program, spearheaded by the Global Forum for Development (GLOFORD) Uganda, offers funding of up to Sh8,000,000 to eligible youth aged between 14 and 30 years. The grant is specifically designed for those operating within the Lira City East and West Divisions.
Focus on Green Economy
While the grant supports general business growth, a significant priority has been placed on environmental sustainability. Applicants involved in waste management, green energy, and innovative environmental solutions stand a high chance of securing the funds.
“We want to empower the youth to not only create wealth but also to promote sustainable business practices that protect our environment,” a representative from GLOFORD noted.
How to Apply
The deadline for applications is today, April 30, 2026. Interested entrepreneurs are encouraged to submit their proposals through the official online portal or visit the GLOFORD Uganda offices for guidance.
This initiative comes at a time when the government is intensifying efforts to reduce youth unemployment through programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga. The Booster Grants are expected to complement these efforts by providing much-needed capital to urban youth who often struggle to access traditional bank loans.
Successful applicants will not only receive financial backing but also mentorship and training on financial management to ensure the long-term survival of their enterprises.
