KAMPALA, UGANDA — The Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) is alleged to have summoned six high-profile Members of Parliament to report to its Kibuli headquarters on Monday morning at 9:00 AM.
The lawmakers are required to record statements regarding their alleged roles in managing and fronting multi-billion wealth portfolios and business empires linked to the former Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among.
The Summoned Lawmakers
The distinct list of lawmakers ordered to appear before investigators includes: [1]
* Hon. Solomon Silwanyi
* Hon. Dickson Kateshumbwa
* Hon. Kawalya Abubaker
* Hon. Mathias Mpuuga
* Hon. Cissy Namujju
* Hon. Asuman Basalirwa
The urgent summonses follow a weekend of dramatic security operations where a joint task force comprising senior CID detectives, the Special Forces Command (SFC), and Defence Intelligence and Security (DIS) raided and sealed off Among’s residential properties in both Nakasero and Mutungo-Kigo.
The presidential-sanctioned crackdown is zeroing in on high-level allegations of illicit enrichment, massive public corruption, and corporate money laundering. Security sources reveal that investigators are aggressively mapping out suspected financial proxies, procurement kickback deals, and secret property holdings distributed among close parliamentary allies. A Defining Political Showdown:
The inclusion of heavyweights from both the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) and opposition factions signals a sweeping, non-partisan approach to the broadening financial investigation.
As social media platforms erupt with fierce debates over the unfolding political drama, detectives have indicated that electronic devices, land titles, and financial transaction logs recovered during the weekend residential raids will form the baseline for Monday’s interrogation sessions.
