The unexpected declaration, which leaves the race for the head of the legislature wide open, was made in a public statement released by the Bukedea District Woman representative. Among stated that her withdrawal follows wide-ranging consultations and careful inner reflection aimed at maintaining absolute unity, cohesion, and harmony within the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
Backing the Party Line:

In her statement, Among expressed profound gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the NRM top leadership, Members of Parliament, her family, and friends for their steadfast support during her tenure as both Deputy Speaker and Speaker of the 11th Parliament.
Moving forward, the veteran legislator has pledged her full corporate support to whatever candidates the President and the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) will endorse for the Speakership race. She strongly implored all newly sworn-in MPs of the 12th Parliament to close ranks and respect the party’s upcoming decision.
“I remain ready to serve my country in any capacity assigned to me by the President and my party,” Among noted, signaling her willingness to accept a potential redeployment within government.
Cooperating with State Probes:
Addressing the highly publicized allegations and multi-agency state security investigations currently swirling around her tenure and assets, the embattled Anita Among struck a cooperative tone. She reaffirmed her commitment to transparency, stating that she will continue cooperating fully with ongoing investigations being handled by the relevant state law enforcement agencies.
The shocking exit of one of the country’s most powerful political figures concludes an intense chapter in parliamentary leadership, ending her spirited fight in the position of the speaker of the 12th parliament of Uganda.
However, many Ugandans want Anita Annet Among (AAA) tried in Anti-corruption court over alleged gross corruption of the highest order.
Many people in Uganda want all the MPs wo were too closed to AAA be investigated extensively including searching their houses both in the rural areas and the one in Kampala.
