Engola as the New minister now pledges to strengthen relief response, refugee support.

Hon. Sam Engola has officially assumed office as the Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees.

Minister Engola took over from Hon. Hillary Onek Obaloker at a handover ceremony held at the Office of the Prime Minister in Kampala on Monday.

Speaking after assuming office, Engola pledged to strengthen government response to disasters and improve support to refugees across the country.
“I am ready to serve and ensure timely relief to Ugandans affected by disasters. We shall work with all stakeholders to manage refugee welfare,” Minister Sam Engola said.
Onek, who has been redeployed in another docket, congratulated Minister Engola and urged ministry staff to support the new minister.
The docket of Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees coordinates emergency response, disaster risk reduction and refugee affairs under the Office of the Prime Minister.
