Northen Uganda- June 24, 2026: Voters in parts of Acholi, Lango, West Nile and Karamoja have accused some MPs in the 12th Parliament of ignoring phone calls after they have just joined parliament of Uganda.

Broken promises:
Several voters who spoke to our reporters in East Acholi last week, said some MPs promised to donate half of the vehicle cash given to legislators, but have since stopped picking calls and they are still demanding them( MPs in question) to stick to their word.
“Before they were sworn in, they attended functions. Now they don’t pick our calls,” said a voter in Lango.
Another voter in Abim District said an MP picks calls for only four seconds before hanging up.

A section of voters in Lango and Acholi sub- region said they are rating their MPs silently at the moment. Some, they claim, fear to debate in Parliament, do not deliver services, and are silent in plenary and committees sessions.”We are closely monitoring parliamentary sessions on TV channels from our houses No performance in parliament prepare for recall”
“Some are not going back in 2031 because they decieved us that they were going to be appointed automatically as ministers but their names did not surface up to now,” A voter said from Amuru District.
Jane from Acholi Sub- region said one MP now “dresses shabbily” after promising to share the vehicle money instead appear like a real typical villager. We are soon making a recall of some people in parliament, Said Isaac of East Acholi.
Media abandoned:
Some of the voters who spoke to this publication on Tuesday afternoon, stated clearly accusing some MPs of abandoning traditional media like Radio Stations, Television stations, Online News publication and Newspapers.
“They don’t want journalists, radio talkshows, newspapers or online media coverage. They only pay their agents who post their photos on whatsaap Group and other social media platforms,” said a voter called Otto in Pandwong, Kitgum Municipality.
Some MPs allegedly task their children to open “real local You-Tube” channels instead of engaging established media in Karamoja, West Nile, Lango and Acholi sub- region thinking those videos are news worthy whereas not because not every one can access smartphones and computers.
“Others in Acholi here are only posting photos on WhatsApp forums and calling it news. We don’t value posted photos,” another voter called Ben said from Gulu District.
Some concerned residents in Acholi said some of the MPs have not returned to the constituency since swearing-in day.
“MPs who deceived us that they would share their salary should prepare for recall in Karamoja, Acholi,West Nile and Lango,” a voter in Acholi said.
Anna from Lango said MPs who do not contribute in Parliament “must be suspended and taken back home to voters.”
Some voters warned MPs now living in Kampala that recall petitions will be launched if tgey do not improve. “Wait for us in soon,” they said.
