RDC Okiswa Geoffrey Monitors UGX15M PWD Projects in Alebtong, Renews Govt Pledge.

ALEBTONG, UGANDA– Alebtong Resident District Commissioner ( RDC) Geoffrey Okiswa on Thursday, 9th June 2026 monitored projects under the National Special Grant for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), sponsored by Central Government through the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development.
While the LC5 Chairperson led a team to Moroto County, RDC Okiswa covered Ajuri County, with monitoring visits in Awei-Owalo Parish, Abako-Anyiti Parish and Amugu-Akisim Parish.
What was found
The RDC visited PWD beneficiary groups of 5 to 7 members each. The groups confirmed they had received about UGX 15 million in support and are currently rearing 54 goats and 5 heifers.
Group chairpersons presented four key requests:
- Assistive devices for persons with disabilities
- Increased funding under the Special Grant
- Capacity building and training in leadership, financial management and group management skills
- Security for their animals

Addressing beneficiaries, Okiswa reaffirmed government’s commitment to enable, empower and ensure PWDs are part of the socio-economic transformation and wealth creation agenda through livelihood programs.
He also assured them of the peace and security “fought for and guaranteed by the NRM Hoveenment led by H.E Gen Yoweri Museveni,” and pledged tight security for their animals.
The RDC thanked H.E President Yoweri Museveni for reiterating the directive of “No Police Bonds” for livestock thieves.
He further urged the groups to strictly adhere to the President’s directives of “No more sleep, No corruption and No laziness.”
“These programs are meant to lift you out of poverty. Use the resources well, manage them transparently, and work hard,” Okiswa said.
The National Special Grant for PWDs is one of government’s social protection programs targeting vulnerable groups to support income-generating activities.

Alebtong RDC Geoffrey Okiswa has monitored UGX15m PWD projects in Ajuri County. Beneficiaries are rearing goats and heifers and have requested more funding, assistive devices, training and security.
