Jubilation at St. Gracious as New Prefects are Sworn-in, Nursery Section Opened at Barapwo by Lira City Education officer.

LIRA CITY, UGANDA— There was jubilation at St. Gracious Nursery and Boarding Primary School on Friday, 10th July 2026, as new prefects from both Day and Boarding section were officially sworn-in at school campus in Barapwo , Lira City West Division, Lira City.
The ceremony was also doubled as the launch of the school’s new Nursery section, with admissions now ongoing at the Boarding section/ campus in Okec Oyere Cell, Barapwo Ward, Lira City West Division from 8:00 Am to 5:00 PM daily.

New prefectorial leadership installed:
The new prefects sworn in included Head Prefects for boarding and day, Head Girls for boarding and day section, Entertainment, ICT, Time Keepers, Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and Health prefects among others.
A total of 39 girls were among the prefects elected, including the Head Girl.

Mr. Ronald Otyang, the Headteacher of St. Gracious Boarding Primary School, applauded the school Director Dr.Patrick Olet and Eva Olet for being action-oriented leaders.
“Leadership starts as early as this,” he said as he commended the new prefects for being eloquent and young vibrant leaders of tommorrow.


Chris Ongom, an official of the School Management Committee, praised the young leaders and commended Dr. Patrick Olet, Director of St. Gracious Schools, for investing in quality education.
Ongom noted that the school sits on 15 hectares of land, with an additional 12 hectares next to the boys’ dormitory now expanded for the Nursery section.
“Dr. Olet is open-minded and practical in his ways of doing things,” Ongom said.


The Guest of Honour, Lira City Education Officer Canon Jane Acio Obyen, used the event to warn residents living around schools to stop selling drug substances that are destroying learners.
Director Dr.Patrick Olet, encouraged the parents to send their children to the newly launched Nursery section for a fruitful learing as far as early childhood development is concerned.


Canon Acio also cautioned teachers against treating pupils with malaria at school.
“Call the parent of a particular sick pupil and let them take the child for proper treatment,” she said.
She applauded the school management for opening the Nursery section, saying it will increase access to early childhood education in Lira City.
Speakers at the event praised Dr. Patrick Olet for what they described as practical investment in education.
Chris Ongom, who also serves as LCV councilor in Oyam District, told parents that political campaigning, whether in English or vernacular, “is not easy,” but campaign in school involve English only with little demand unlike for the adult politics stating that education remains the surest path for children’s future.
St. Gracious operates both day and boarding sections in Barapwo ward and now runs a Nursery section witj dedicated teachers with real focus on academic excellence and discipline.
