ALEBTONG UGANDA — November 24, 2025 — The political landscape in Alebtong District intensified on Monday 24th, November 2025, as the campaign for NRM flag bearer Woman Member of Parliament Alebtong District seat officially commenced with the launch of Hon. Dr. Lakisa Mercy’s public rallies in Apala Sub-county, Alebtong District.

The campaign launch, held across two separate venues and attended by hundreds of her supporters, was notably monitored by the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Alebtong, Mr. Okiswa Geoffrey and Assistant RDC Mr.Ongom Lamex. Hon. Dr. Lakisa Mercy is running as the official flag bearer for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party in the 2026-2031 general elections.
Addressing the large gatherings, RDC Okiswa Geoffrey emphasised the critical importance of civility, compliance, and strategic voting as the district enters the electoral period. His presence signaled the administration’s keen focus on ensuring a free and fair contest environment.

Okiswa emphasised for Peace and Lawful Conduct during this Parliamentary election scheduled to take place on the 15th, January 2026.
The RDC’s address centered on a five-point directive aimed at candidates, supporters, and the electorate. His paramount message stressed the need for order throughout the campaign season.
“I urge all stakeholders to ensure peace, joy, and tranquility during these campaigns,” RDC Okiswa stated. “It is the primary duty of every citizen to strictly adhere to the established Electoral Laws and avoid engaging in any criminal or sinful acts during and after campaigns and elections.”
Beyond the immediate need for peace, RDC Okiswa implored the voters to use their ballots wisely, favoring candidates whose manifesto align with the nation’s socio-economic goals.
He called upon the masses to “vote wisely for intelligent, patriotic, trusted, and committed political leaders.”
Crucially, the RDC emphasized that the ideal candidate’s manifesto must actively champion the government’s core development agenda.
“We must only support those whose manifestos genuinely articulate peace, patriotism, and the socio-economic transformation now anchored by government initiatives like the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, and other livelihood programs,” he stressed, drawing a direct parallel between Dr. Lakisa’s platform and the vision of “H.E. Yoweei Kaguta Museveni.”
Dr. Lakisa Mercy, an NRM stalwart, used the rallies to launch her bid to secure the Woman MP seat, promising to prioritize infrastructure development, poverty eradication through PDM implementation, and improved healthcare services for the people of Alebtong.
The monitoring by RDC Okiswa Geoffrey and Assistant RDC Ongom Lamex sets a strong precedent for the Alebtong election cycle, cementing the NRM’s government commitment to ensuring that political mobilization remains focused on policy adherence and developmental progress.
