Obongi District Secures Shs3 (three) Billion for New Seed Secondary School in Itula Sub-County.
OBONGI, UGANDA – November 26, 2025:Obongi District has received over three billion shillings from the government for the construction of a new seed secondary school in Itula Sub-County. The project, aimed at boosting educational infrastructure, officially commenced with a groundbreaking ceremony led by the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Obongi, Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka.
The new Itula Seed Secondary School, situated in Legu Parish, Itula Sub-County, has already seen construction work begin. The institution is anticipated to be completed and operational by next year, significantly expanding access to secondary education in the area.
During the groundbreaking event, RDC Hashaka extended his profound gratitude to the government for its unwavering commitment to developing Obongi District through crucial infrastructural projects like schools. He highlighted the importance of such initiatives for the newly established district.
Hashaka further disclosed that the Itula Seed Secondary School is the second such institution in Obongi District, with plans already underway for the construction of another Seed Secondary School in Obongi Town council in the near future. He noted that Obongi District, which was created in the Financial Year 2019/2020 with five sub-counties and one town council, now proudly hosts four government-aided secondary schools, a testament to rapid developmental strides.
The Obongi RDC, who was accompanied by the Secretary for Education, Hon Azubu Micheal, attributed the remarkable progress in the district to collective effort and robust advocacy. He specifically lauded the parliamentary-level efforts of the area MP, Hon Dr. Bhoka George Didi, and the Woman MP, Hon Zumura Maneno, for their tireless teamwork.
In a strong political statement, RDC Hashaka referenced the Itula Seed Secondary School as “another gain by the NRM government.” He urged the local population to demonstrate their appreciation by voting for President Yoweri Museveni and other NRM flag bearers. He suggested that such support would not only acknowledge their developmental efforts in Obongi District but also guarantee the establishment of seed secondary schools in all sub-counties and the town council. He affirmed that the Itula Seed Secondary School project is a direct fulfillment of a pledge made in the NRM manifesto.
Concluding his address, RDC Hashaka challenged all “wanainchi” (citizens) and local leaders to actively monitor the construction process of the Itula Seed Secondary School. He stressed the importance of ensuring high-quality work by rigorously verifying that all specifications and quantities detailed in the bills of quantities are correctly and fully implemented.
