UPC’s MP Obong Eyit Confident of ‘Massive’ 2026 Victory, Tells Opponents to Surrender and join him.
LIRA, UGANDA – The incumbent Member of Parliament for Lira City West Division, Hon. Shedrick Vincent Obong Eyit (UPC), has boldly declared that he will secure a massive mandate for another term in the 12th Parliament, urging constituents to maintain him in office based on his significant contributions since he was elected in 2021.
Speaking recently during a campaign rally in Barogole ward that gathered all Uganda Peoples Congress (UPC) flag bearers, MP Eyit stated that his track record in the short time he has served in the 11th parliament is clear on the ground and outweighs the intentions of his rivals.
MP Eyit told voters of Lira City West, that he has employed over 100 youth and plan for job creation asking them to stand by him as the 2026 general election approaches for a better service delivery.

“I have spent few years in parliament, but my contribution is bigger than what some of my opponents plan to do,” MP Obong asserted. He went further to dismiss the credentials of those challenging him, claiming they are not yet ready enough for national legislative duties.
“Some of them are even my students who need to wait for some good years before they dream of going to any parliament,” he added, emphasizing the gap between his experience and that of his challengers.
The confidence of the incumbent appears to be rooted in tangible development projects visible across the constituency.

Voter Bosco Opio, a resident of Kakoge ‘B’, attested to the MP’s performance, arguing that Hon. Eyit’s impact is clearly and greatly seen on the ground.
“MP Obong’s contribution in Lira city West Division is clearly and greatly seen in road rehabilitation, borehole repair among others,” Opio stated, confirming the positive reception of the MP’s infrastructure focus among the electorate.
His manifesto and paromises for the 12th Parliament is based on a joint agenda with Hon Betty Amongi Akena, Ocen James Agipi, Ebong Opeto Emmanuel and Ogwang Veve among others.
Looking ahead to the next term, MP Eyit laid out an ambitious agenda centered on expanding services and boosting the city’s standing nationally. In a related development, over 300 students have been sponsored by Hon. Obong Shedrick in Light vocational School located in Amuca and he is as well looking forward to sponsor more students next year ( 2026 ) in various schools including some excelling students within Lira City West Division.
He promised that if granted a second term in the 12th Parliament, he would expand his contributions to all parts of the city. His ultimate vision, he stated, is to ensure that Lira City West “competes countrywide,” signifying a push for improved standards and greater national recognition for the division.
The declaration of a “massive win” set a highly charged tone for the upcoming election cycle in Lira City West Division. The rally underscored the UPC’s strategy of leveraging the incumbent’s developmental track record to secure re-election in 2026.
