Independent Candidate Robert Ssewagudde Urges PWDs to Vote for Him in 2026 Election, Gains Momentum in Lira.
LIRA, UGANDA – December 10, 2025: In a press conference held at Good News Hotel on Wednesday morning, Robert Ssewagudde, an independent candidate campaigning for the position of National Person with Disability (PWD) Member of Parliament seat, urged the 730 PWD voters in Uganda to cast their ballots for him in the upcoming 2026 general election.
Ssewagudde, who hails from Wakiso in the central region of Uganda, expressed his unwavering support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, stating that he supports him “100 percent.” Despite running as an independent candidate, he revealed that he would return to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) if he wins the forth omong 2926 general election.

The candidate, who is also the chairperson of NRM in one of the divisions in Wakiso, emphasized that the PWD community needs a strong advocate to fight for their rights and improve their living conditions. He promised to wholeheartedly represent the interests of PWDs and elevate them from poverty if elected.
Ssewagudde’s campaign team, including Sali, Joseph Gesa, and Potel, the chairperson of his campaign task force, accompanied him inira city on Wednesday. The team is optimistic about Ssewagudde’s chances, citing his dedication to the PWD community and his experience as a leader in Wakiso.
Currently, there are 10 candidates vying for the four available positions for PWDs in the Parliament of Uganda.
One position is for female . Ssewagudde urged all PWD voters to support him, emphasizing that he is the best candidate to represent their interests and fight for their rights.

The 2026 general election is expected to be highly competitive, and Ssewagudde’s campaign team is working tirelessly to mobilize support from PWD voters across the country. With his strong background with NUDIPU, in leadership and advocacy, Ssewagudde is confident that he can make a positive impact on the lives of PWDs in Uganda.
