Maneno Zumura Leads Obongi Polls with Over 80% Support Ahead of 2026 General Election

Obongi District, Uganda – January 11, 2026: Incumbent National Resistance Movement (NRM) Woman Member of Parliament and NRM flag bearer for Obongi District Woman MP 2026-2031, Jon. Maneno Zumura, is soaring ahead of her competitors in a recent opinion poll conducted for the last two months , commanding over 80% support from constituents just days before the January 15, 2026, general elections.
The opinion poll, conducted by a coalition of independent and concerned citizens in Obongi District, reveals overwhelming public confidence in Zumura’s leadership and performance during her tenure in the 12th Parliament. According to the survey findings released yesterday, Zumura enjoys unmatched popularity compared to other aspiring candidates, with analysts projecting her support could rise to at least 83% by election day.

Community leaders and political observers attribute her strong lead to her impactful representation, consistent grassroots engagement, and targeted empowerment initiatives.
“MP Maneno Zumura has not only been visible in Obongi, she has delivered results,” said Medina Musa, a concern citizen involved in the survey. “From the timely distribution of iron sheets to vulnerable households, supporting students with bursaries, to her relentless advocacy for women’s groups, she has earned the trust of the people.”
Zumura has been particularly praised for her support to the Obongi Women Group, an initiative that has empowered hundreds of women through skills training, access to finance, and other inputs. Additionally, she has played a pivotal role in facilitating education support for rural areas. Her effectiveness as NRM flag bearer and patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Coordinator in Obongi has further solidified her political influence. Analysts note that her ability to mobilize party structures, mediate community disputes, and maintain open channels of communication with constituents has made her a trusted and accessible leader.

As the election campaign intensifies, MP Maneno Zumura has reiterated her commitment to deepening service delivery and championing the needs of women, youth, improvement for the Sinyanya-Obongi ferry and supporting marginalized communities like orphans in Obongi.
