Maruzi County Set to Receive Ambulance Donation from MP-Elect Hon. Obong Peter Acuda.
By Okidi Patrick

MARUZI COUNTY, APAC, UGANDA – In a bid to improve the health services and emergency response in Maruzi County, MP-elect Hon. Obong Peter Acuda has announced plans to donate a brand new ambulance worth millions of shillings to the community. This generous donation aims to ease referrals, transportation of patients, emergency cases, and access to maternal services for expectant mothers.

The announcement comes on the heels of Acuda’s previous donation of scholastic materials worth 7 million shillings to 30 best-performing candidates in the 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) in Maruzi County. The MP-elect has stated that his top priorities for the community are better education, good roads, health improvement, youth and women empowerment, agricultural improvement and access to clean water.

According to Acuda, his investigation into the needs of the community revealed that many patients have lost their lives due to delays in receiving medical attention, which could have been prevented with timely interventions. He cited examples of accident victims, pregnant mothers, and severe malaria cases, which often result in preventable deaths.
“I have seen the challenges facing our health services sector, particularly with timely referrals,” Acuda said. “These factors drove me to strengthen our emergency services by planning to procure a new ambulance worth millions of shillings. This will help minimize preventable deaths and improve access to healthcare for our people.”
The ambulance donation is expected to be handed over to the community before Acuda’s swearing-in as the next MP of Maruzi County in May 2026.
“I will be handing over the ambulance to our people of Maruzi very soon,” he assured the voters.
The community has welcomed Acuda’s initiative, with many praising his commitment to improving the lives of his constituents. Akello Betty of Akokoro Town Council described Acuda as a “real leader with a practical agenda” even before he joins the 12th parliament. Opio Calvin of Ibuje parish noted that it is time for leaders who prioritize the needs of their electorate, unlike in the past.
Acuda’s upcoming Ambulance donation is seen as a significant step towards addressing the healthcare challenges facing Maruzi County. The new ambulance is expected to play a critical role in emergency response and referrals, ultimately saving lives and improving the overall health and wellbeing of the community.
