LIRA CITY, UGANDA – 9th February 2026: Lango Sub-region has emerged as a stronghold for President Yoweri Museveni and the National Resistance Movement (NRM) following the 15 January 2026 general elections. Ocen Tony, a prominent NRM mobilizer in the Lango sub-region, while addressing the media on Monday Morning, has hailed the President’s victory in the recent Presidential election, attributing it to the party’s transformative policies and the leader’s enduring direct connection with the people on the ground.
Elections in the Lango sub-region have historically favored the NRM, but Ocen Tony highlighted a significant margin this time. “President Museveni secured an overwhelming majority of votes in Lango and the whole country while his closest challenger captured only a fraction,” he noted during his address to the media in Lira city. “This reflects the people’s trust in NRM’s vision and H.E. the President who is committed to their welfare.”
Ocen praised the NRM government for its progress in expanding public services, particularly in education and healthcare. Citing Universal Primary Education (UPE) and Universal Secondary Education (USE) as cornerstones of development, he emphasized how these initiatives have reduced illiteracy and improved access to schooling. “Thanks to UPE and USE, every child in Lango now has a chance at quality education,” he said. “Healthcare access has also improved, with more clinics and immunization programs reaching rural communities.”

In his message, Ocen lauded President Museveni’s “parental love for the people,” pointing to flagship programs such as Wealth Creation, Education for All, Prosperity for All, the Uganda Woman Enterprise Project (UWEP), and the Parish Development Model (PDM). “These initiatives have laid the groundwork for sustainable development,” he stated. “Through PDM, for instance, Lango is witnessing grassroots infrastructure upgrades and community-driven planning.”
Addressing fellow NRM mobilizers via the media, Ocen urged them to continue championing the President’s development agenda. “As a country, we are far ahead of where we were 30 years ago,” he said. “Our duty is to amplify the NRM’s message—especially in wealth creation and equitable resource distribution through participating in the awareness of government programs to our people —so the public understands the progress being made time and again.”
Ocen reaffirmed his personal commitment to mobilizing support for Museveni in Lango. “As an NRM cadre, I’ll keep spreading the gospel of wealth creation and inclusive development,” he declared. “The President’s vision is a national asset, and it’s our responsibility to ensure it reaches every household in Northern Uganda and the whole country.” Added Tony.
With the NRM solidifying its base in the Lango Sub-region , Ocen’s remarks reflect a broader narrative of resilience and progress in Lango. As the President celebrates robust support, his supporters remain steadfast in advocating for policies they believe will transform Uganda’s future in line with protecting the gains.
Congratulation to the NRM’s grassroots mobilization in Lira city and l really thank H.E. the President of the Republic of Uganda Gen.Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his vibrant leadership.
